Already behind in word count and the characters/plot are demanding the addition of three chapters so they can play a polo/lacrosse game on horseback

I am absolutely delighted to announce that my story, "Emeralds to Emeralds, Dust to Dust," will be appearing in the anthology Oz Reimagined: New Tales from the Emerald City and Beyond, edited by John Joseph Adams and Douglas Cohen. It will be available in February 2013.

Let's be honest here. You've always wanted to see a grown-up, embittered, lesbian Dorothy living with her girlfriend (Polychrome, naturally) in the slums of the Emerald City, solving crimes with the aid of her trusty gourd Friday, Jack Pumpkinhead, haven't you? Well, now you can.

And yes, this is the story that inspired me to start working on a dark urban fantasy Oz trilogy. Because sleep is for the weak, or something.

Oz!

Sounds like my type of book. Also the sort of book any Oz and Polychrome loving author might love. Surprised he hasn't commented, but he either hasn't seen it yet or hasn't stopped squeeing.

Ground is saturated enough, kthx bye.

Ok, the plants probably could use some.

So Hosta update, they are coming up. Yeah, for the miracle of perennial plants.

Also planted yesterday a bunch of caladiums. Note to self, try to remember that the proper term is caladium and not clamidia. Sometimes words twist in your head and just come out too wrong.

Also planted some cheap giant elephant ear. How does one get cheap elephant ear plants? I know they are extremely expensive when you try to buy them in a gardening store. The trick is to go to the local Indian/Chinese market, where they are conveniently filed under taro.

Well at least its supposed to finally get back up to 70 today. The temps been bouncing around all over the place all month.

It's one thing to cuddle a baby rabbit on your lap and feed it baby carrots.

However, there is just something fundamentally wrong with cuddling a kitten on your lap, and feeding it baby rabbits.

Though why this EGS cartoon, should spark this thought is probably even more problematic. Ok, yes I was cuddling a cat on my lap at the time. Though pounce treats are an option they are just not the same as a carrot.

Though I am sure that Mabel a former feral cat, who spent her first 3 years fending for herself in the woods would enjoy a baby rabbit. I am happily trying to suppress this line of thought.

Burglarer calls police after homeowner comes home, afraid the homeowner might have a gun.

See this is why the new rules inn Illinois is so important. Where they are going to publish the names of all gun owners. This way home invaders, can safely break into houses that don't have guns.

Apparently the British Electrical grid will only work when the wind is blowing.

Who is saying this.

The head of the British Electric Company apparently.

According to him, they should only expect to have electricity when its available.

Though I see a sudden surge in whole or partial house UPS systems.

Of course you know France (~80% nuclear) is probably loving this.

of Sinfest ... again she is leading men to their downfall.

I love puns, in all forms.

Also Pournell, seems to have come to the same conclusion. We are in living in interesting times.

1632 - The Bavarian Crisis.

Yes I'm way behind in that series by Flint. However, I am being entertained by everything falling apart into warfare, demonstrations, chaos etc. All of which is caused by one little incident that spirals madly out of control.

Sort of like the beginning of WWI.

Sort of like what happened with Wikileaks.

OMG, I prefer my "may you live in interesting times," a little more in books then in real life.

Ok there are other factors besides wikileaks. The irony is another problem is the high cost of food in the arab world now. Brought on by the high cost of fuel. Not to mention various crop failures, both due to nature and man made.

Why do I feel like I should start humming "we didn't start the fire."

Heh ... apparently Libya's old leader is now fleeing to Venezuela leaving a civil war between his two sons.

Why write and read fiction, it can hardly keep up with real life.

I've got my triumvirate at level cap now, in WoW. Zimpha my main. Opalia my gatherer of ore and herbs. And Euronwy my mage (fun alt), who is my maker of flasks, potions and gold. Quite literally on the gold since as an alchemist she can now transmute truegold.

I have decided that I need to send one of my new chars to explore the new quests in Westfall. The simple reason being, is I need to see the beginning story of Vanessa VanCleef. She is the end boss in the Deadmines entrance. She replaced her father, when they made the new Heroic Deadmines. Its a whole "you killed my father, prepare to die." thing.

Raid wise I've downed Magmaw and Council of the Winds.

But back to VanCleef. How to explain her. Psycho, bitch from hell with daddy issues, probably covers it. But given all that she is the bomb. Really she is the bomb, stand too close to her at the final and BOOM. It is one of my favorite instances.
